We would like to thank everyone who attended the Building Envelope as Technology event. We sincerely hope that you found it valuable.
Join us as we hear about the evolving sustainable commercial and residential development movement referred to as “Passive House”. Sam Rodell and Maren Longhurst of Sam Rodell Architects, our region’s leading Passive-House architectural firm, will share the benefits of this emergent approach from an owner’s economical choice, to a holistic, team-based design methodology, to certified contractor implementation, to the ultimate product in durability, occupant health and comfort, and energy efficiency.
Despite its name, the Passive-House concept goes beyond housing. Originating in Germany, Passivhaus emerged as a rigorous, voluntary standard for energy efficiency in buildings, reducing the ecological footprint and resulting in ultra-low energy buildings that require little energy for space heating or cooling. Many countries in Europe have adopted Passivhaus standards as the building code minimum and growth in the U.S. has been exponential, with the most significant gains seen in multifamily housing and commercial building.
