Techniques and Strategies

You have put your heart into the design and construction of your projects, so now is the time to celebrate your teams’ hard work! Awards are a superb way to reinforce perceptions about an organization, establish thought leadership and create creditability for a product or service. Winning awards can also help generate new business for an organization and be leveraged as a marketing tool when speaking with media, partners, and customers. In some instances, awards can also spark prominent business leaders and media’s interest and lead to a publicity stream. 

Join us this April as we hear from veteran AEC industry jurors for AIA Design Awards. Our panelists will present an overview (with examples) of various techniques and strategies for preparing a design awards submission. Learn the importance of developing a submission strategy overview, understanding the jury’s makeup, the deliberation process, and submission techniques and approaches.

ABOUT OUR PRESENTERs

John Kane FAIA has participated on many local, regional, and national awards juries during his 30 plus years career. He and his firm Architekton have won over 150 local, regional, and national awards. John was one of the three jurors for the 2021 Spokane AIA Design Awards.  

Benjamin Minnick is the construction and special sections editor at the Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce. He has judged various AEC association awards programs for the past 25-plus years, including the Associated General Contractors of Washington, American Council of Engineering Companies of Washington, Washington Aggregates & Concrete Association, and others.
