Sharpen Your D-B Team's Interview Skills

Spokane Convention Center - 402ABC

We would like to thank everyone who attended the Increase Your Win Rate! event. We sincerely hope that you found it valuable.

Interview Skills Focus: Design-Build

As the design-build delivery method continues to grow in popularity, the ability of teams to differentiate themselves and show how they will work together—and with the owner—is crucial. Join Scott Johnston of Johnston Training Group for a four-hour workshop that will share strategies on how to:

  • Prepare effectively for interviews using JTG’s Seven Steps of Successful Project Pursuit.
  • Share people-oriented stories to express capabilities instead of listing accomplishments.
  • Demonstrate how firms will partner—especially for the first time.
  • Answer the question, “What will it be like to work with your team?”
  • Manage group dynamics to build consensus and make key decisions faster.
  • Show personality to connect with the selection panel.
  • Use language that differentiates the team from competitors.
  • Answer questions effectively and memorably during Q&A.

While the strategies will apply to all project interviews, this workshop will focus on design-build pursuits in a variety of formats, from short, in-person Q&A interviews to half-day design review meetings. Attendees will complete a survey in advance of the workshop and topics will be finalized based on the results. There will be several exercises to reinforce the strategies, so arrive prepared to participate.
