Achieving Outstanding Results

Design Thinking For Innovation

Spokane Convention Center, Room 402AB

We would like to thank everyone who attended the Achieving Outstanding Results event. We sincerely hope that you found it valuable.

As leaders, one of the most important things we do is gather teams to solve organizational and societal problems. But how much time do we really spend gaining an understanding of a challenge and the people impacted by it?

OneAEC is thrilled to announce that Dr. Rachelle Strawther, Director of Gonzaga University's Center for Lifelong Learning, will be speaking at our November 14th meeting.

Dr. Strawther will be sharing insight on "Design Thinking For Innovation" and how it can be applied to the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction Industry. Please join us on November 14 for Design Thinking for Innovation; where you will:

  • Understand how and why design thinking leads to better problem-solving and innovation.
  • Learn how to better understand a problem – and the people impacted by it before attempting to solve it.
  • Develop a design thinking toolkit and learn how to apply skills to personal and professional challenges.

MEETING SPONSORSHIP AVAILABLE!  Please contact terri@mcrae-marketing.com for additional information.

ABOUT DR. STRAWTHER:

Dr. Rachelle Strawther (Rachelle) is a dynamic leader and educator dedicated to helping others grow to their full potential. As the founding Director of Gonzaga University’s Center for Lifelong Learning, Rachelle has established the university’s focal point for professional development and continuing education for the public. Prior to this role, she spent eight years at the School of Leadership Studies, where she co-founded the Women Lead initiative, the Spokane Neighborhood Leadership Academy, and multiple certificates, including Design Thinking for Innovation. As a design thinking practitioner and enthusiast, she is passionate about helping teams determine the problem they are trying to solve before jumping to solutions – a skill that applies to all fields and sectors.

Rachelle’s worldview is informed by her work and teaching experiences in Italy, Colombia, Ethiopia, and Kenya. Before joining Gonzaga, she spent eight years in Kenya, first managing community programs supporting women and children impacted by HIV/AIDS, and later leading a regional sports-for-development organization for 3,000 youth in informal settlements and rural areas. Passionate about service and social justice, she remains actively engaged in the Kalaki Fund, a scholarship program she co-founded for Kenyan youth, and local organizations such as Partnering for Progress and the Gonzaga Center for the Study of Hate. She is guided by the African proverb, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”
